Chocolate Chip Cookies

Everyone likes these - and this recipe is my version. I like them a bit crispy on the edges and soft - but not flat, little nuggets with lots of chocolate and nuts ...

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup lard
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Mix lard and butter, add sugars and mix.

Add eggs, one at a time and mix well.

Add flour and baking powder and mix.

Add nuts and chocolate chips and mix.

Preheat oven to 375F.

Drop by rounded tablespoons on parchment lined pans.

Place in freezer for 5 minutes.

Bake for 11 minutes.
