Christmas Crack

These sound kinda stupid - but they are scrumptious! I changed the recipe a little - I kinda burnt my first batch this year (my oven seems to be running hot) so I lowered the temperature and cooked them for a shorter time

Saltine Crackers
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
2 cup chocolate chips
1-2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a 17x12 inch Jelly roll pan with heavy duty foil and butter foil. Place saltine crackers side by side on entire cookie sheet, salt side up.

Combine sugar and butter in a large sauce pan. Bring to a boil and boil for three minutes; pour over saltines and bake for 5 mins and check to see if everything is bubbling - it may need a minute more - my oven is running hot .... Immediately, sprinkle chips evenly.

When the chips have melted, smooth with a knife and sprinkle with chopped nuts. If the chips don't melt, shove them back in the oven for another minute. Refrigerate.

When completely chilled, break into pieces.

These can be frozen to avoid eating all before Christmas - but unfortunately they defrost quickly and taste really good even when still frozen ...
